Sierra Leone to start sharing Cabinet decisions with the public at weekly press briefings

The Sierra Leone government says it will begin reading out Cabinet decisions publicly during the Weekly Government Press Conference, in a step aimed at boosting transparency and making executive decisions easier for citizens to follow.

The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, announced the change during a government media briefing in Freetown. He said the decision was taken by President Julius Maada Bio and Cabinet as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen openness, accountability, and public confidence in governance.

Bah explained that the new approach is meant to give citizens a clearer understanding of what is agreed at Cabinet level, while also responding to concerns that government deliberations are not always well understood by the public. He added that the move is expected to improve communication between the government and the people and make governance feel more accessible.
