Sierra Leone U-20 Female National Team Kicks Off Training for WAFU Tournament

The Sierra Leone U-20 Female National Team has initiated their preparations for the impending West African Football Union (WAFU) U-20 Female Tournament in Senegal. On Monday, May 13th, the team commenced their first training session at the SLFA Academy, signaling the beginning of their journey towards the prestigious competition.

 

Under the guidance of Head Coach Fatmata Turay, the team embarked on their training regimen with a strong sense of determination and optimism. Coach Turay expressed unwavering confidence in the team's capabilities, emphasizing their potential to shine in the tournament.

 

With the 2024 Female U-20 tournament slated from May 20th to May 30th, the team has intensified their training efforts, fully committed to representing Sierra Leone with excellence on the international stage.

 

In preparation for the event, the draw for the U-20 girls Senegal 2024 tournament is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the Headquarters in Dakar, as confirmed by the organizers.

 

Coach Fatmata Turay recently unveiled the roster of 20 skilled players who will proudly represent the nation in the upcoming competition. The selected squad comprises a blend of defenders, midfielders, and forwards, each chosen for their exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.

 

Among the notable players included in the squad are Ishatu A. Koroma, Fatmata L. Kamara, and Salamatu S. Kamara, who have distinguished themselves in their respective clubs, including Koya Queens FC, Mogbwemo Queens FC, and Mena Queens FC. The team's composition reflects a balance of seasoned experience and youthful vigor, with players such as Marie Kamara and Isata Mansaray bringing their expertise to the fore.
