Sierra Leone's Ambassador, Dr. Lansanal Gberie, gracefully transfers IOM Chairmanship
At the 114th Session of the IOM’s Council meeting, Dr. Lansanal Gberie, Sierra Leone's Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the UN, gracefully handed over the Chairmanship of the IOM Governing Bureau to Her Excellency Katharina Stasch, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Germany.
Ambassador Gberie, elected as Chairperson a year ago, showcased remarkable leadership during his tenure. His accomplishments include overseeing the Arm Trade Treaty, chairing the WTO’s TRIPS Council, and serving as First Vice Chairman of the IOM’s governing bureau.
During the handover, he expressed gratitude to President Julius Maada Bio and congratulated Ambassador Stasch on assuming leadership for the 114th Session. The 114th Council Session is scheduled for November 27-29, 2023, in a hybrid format.
