The seven-member delegation, which included key figures like APC leader Hon. Abdul Kargbo, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tim Kabba, and Majority Leader Hon. Matthew Nyuma, intended to engage with senior members of the U.S. Executive Branch and Congress, along with representatives from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

The primary objective of this diplomatic initiative was to emphasize Sierra Leone's steadfast commitment to implementing the "Agreement of National Unity" and electoral reforms. Minister Sengeh, in a statement on social media, expressed the necessity of his presence in the country, leading to the postponement of the official visit scheduled for next week.
