Six Suspects Remanded Over Murder of Reverend Father Amadu

Six men accused of killing Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu and carrying out a series of armed robberies have been remanded in custody after appearing before Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

The accused are Martin Sellu, Gbassay Swarray, Foday Sallu, John Bangalie (alias Boika), Joseph Gilamaja Kamara (alias Shine), and Foday Alhassan Sesay. They face multiple charges, including murder, armed robbery, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property.

According to the prosecution, the men conspired to commit aggravated robbery in August 2025. On August 30, they allegedly attacked Reverend Father Amadu at his church residence in Buma III, Kenema District, armed with a locally made single-barrel gun. He was killed during the incident, and the suspects reportedly stole a Lenovo laptop and cash.

Court testimony revealed that Reverend Father Amadu was found motionless in his bathroom. Police secured the scene, conducted an investigation, and later arrested the six suspects.

Investigators also linked the group to a violent robbery in Bo, where the National Social Security and Insurance Trust’s South Regional Manager, Mr. John Lamina, was left seriously injured. At the time of their arrest, police described the men as repeat offenders, with one of them, Foday Alhassan Sesay, allegedly found with stolen property.

The case has drawn widespread public attention, with many calling for justice for Reverend Father Amadu. Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah has adjourned the matter to September 29, 2025. The accused will remain in custody until then.
