SLPP Chairman Rallies Members Abroad to Embrace Unity and Discipline

The National Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, has called on party members to remain disciplined and united as the party prepares for the challenges ahead.

Speaking at a regional meeting in London, he reminded members that the SLPP must not be distracted by personal ambitions or internal divisions. “We have only one agenda—the SLPP Agenda. No factions. No distractions,” he declared.

Sir Songa praised the role of the UK & Ireland Region, describing it as pivotal in shaping the party’s direction and securing past victories, including the 2018 electoral win. He honored the sacrifices of founding members and past supporters with a moment of silence, urging members to remain committed to the party’s vision.

Reaffirming President Julius Maada Bio’s leadership, he emphasized loyalty and encouraged members to focus on delivering the government’s “Big Five Game Changers”: food security, human capital development, youth employment, technology and infrastructure, and public service reform.

Sir Songa also revealed plans to strengthen campaign structures through regional sub-committees, stressing the need for preparedness as national elections draw closer. He cautioned against complacency, warning that disunity could open doors for the opposition to reclaim power.

Closing his remarks, he pledged humility and service, urging members at home and abroad to defend the party’s record and stand together for Sierra Leone’s transformation. His message was met with chants of solidarity as the gathering ended in renewed enthusiasm.
