SLPP Suspends Kadiru Kaikai Over Violent Threats for 2028 Presidential Bid
The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has condemned and suspended Kadiru Kaikai after he made threatening statements in a viral video, promising violence if he does not secure the presidency in 2028.
The SLPP's National Secretariat released a statement denouncing Kaikai’s remarks, emphasizing that such threats do not align with the party’s values. The SLPP stressed that violence and threats have no place in a democratic society and vowed to uphold national peace and security.
The party has suspended Kaikai’s membership immediately, pending a disciplinary review. All SLPP executives are instructed to distance themselves from Kaikai’s actions, and any misuse of the party’s name will lead to legal consequences.
The SLPP reiterated its commitment to peaceful and democratic processes, focusing on supporting the government’s National Development Plan rather than internal party conflicts. The party aims to build on its achievements and seek a mandate through peaceful means in the upcoming elections, continuing the legacy of President Julius Maada Bio.
