Stats SL and UNICEF Sign MoU for 2024 MICS-7 Survey in Sierra Leone
Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) and UNICEF have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the seventh round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS-7) in 2024. This partnership aims to enhance the collection and analysis of critical data concerning the welfare of women and children across Sierra Leone.
The MoU was signed during a ceremony in Freetown, attended by key stakeholders including UNICEF’s Country Representative, Rudolf Schwenk, and the Statistician General and CEO of Stats SL, Andrew Bob Johnny. The agreement outlines the responsibilities of both organizations to ensure financial accountability and effective resource management, which are essential for the success of the survey.
Rudolf Schwenk reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to supporting Stats SL in gathering reliable data on women’s and children’s conditions in Sierra Leone. Andrew Bob Johnny expressed his appreciation for UNICEF’s longstanding partnership, noting the successful outcomes of previous surveys and Stats SL’s readiness to execute MICS-7 in 2024.
The MICS survey is a household survey designed to provide essential data that will inform policy-making and improve the lives of women, youth, and children in Sierra Leone. The event concluded with both parties officially signing the MoU, solidifying their collaboration towards national development.
