Urgent Warning Issued Over Unsafe Building at Mountain Cut

On July 18, 2024, a concerned citizen has issued a serious warning regarding a dangerously unstable building at Mountain Cut, located near the hill bypass road opposite the Circular Road Cemetery, adjacent to the garage.

The individual has urged the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) and the Freetown City Council (FCC) to act swiftly, citing the building’s imminent risk of collapse as a major threat to both residents and businesses in the area.

The structure has exhibited clear signs of deterioration, raising fears that it might collapse at any moment. The concerned citizen stressed the importance of preventive measures, advocating for disaster prevention over mere response.

“Immediate action could save lives and prevent severe damage,” the individual emphasized.

Local residents and business owners have voiced increasing concerns about the potential disaster, calling on authorities to perform a comprehensive assessment and implement necessary safety measures. The building’s instability has already caused disruptions, with some occupants seeking alternative accommodations due to safety fears.

The NDMA and FCC have been called upon to urgently inspect the site and, if necessary, initiate an evacuation to prevent any harm. This appeal highlights a broader need for improved disaster management practices in Freetown, aiming to enhance safety and reduce risks associated with structural failures.
