Veteran Police Officer Reinstated After Being Cleared of False Allegations

Superintendent Mustapha Alhaji Senesie, a seasoned police officer with over 38 years of service, has been reinstated as the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Rutile Division after being exonerated from accusations of sexually assaulting a supposed 16-year-old girl.

Senesie’s suspension followed a complaint from the alleged victim's father and local stakeholders, who presented forged documents, including a birth certificate and school report card, as evidence. However, after an extensive investigation by the Family Support Unit (FSU) and the Complaints, Discipline, and Internal Investigations Department (CDIID), both documents were revealed to be fake.

Following a review by the State Counsel for the Southern Province, it was concluded that the case against Senesie was unfounded, and the counsel recommended an investigation into those responsible for attempting to frame him.

The Inspector General of Police acted swiftly on the advice, reinstating Senesie to his position.

This case marks the third time in the region that senior police officers have been falsely accused of crimes. Senesie’s legal counsel pointed out that such incidents seem to be part of a troubling pattern in the area.

The lawyer further remarked, “No one should suffer for crimes they did not commit. This was a deliberate attempt to destroy the reputation of an innocent man who has dedicated his career to serving his country.”

The false accusations led to widespread defamatory posts on social and traditional media, further harming Senesie’s reputation. His legal team has vowed to pursue justice and hold accountable those behind the false accusations.

The case underscores the damaging effects of false accusations and highlights concerns about the integrity of local administrative processes. The forged documents were allegedly traced back to a staff member at the Moriba Town Primary Health Unit.

Throughout the ordeal, Senesie received strong support from colleagues, friends, and community members who believed in his innocence. “It’s a relief to see justice prevail,” one supporter said.

As Senesie returns to his duties, both police leadership and legal experts are calling for stronger measures to prevent similar incidents and protect the integrity of law enforcement officers in the country.
