Lenny Henry reveals Windrush drama will start conversation on immigration

"Disneyfied" the racism faced by his parents' generation, sparking debate among children.

 

His ITV series, which he co-wrote with Russell T. Davies and starred in, is based on stories from his family and friends. The film depicts the trials and racism faced by three women who emigrated from Jamaica to England in the 1950s.

 

In one scene, they see a sign in a window that says ``No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish'' and racist graffiti that says ``Wogs out.''

Speaking at the start of the show, Henry said the recording was too much for him.
