Natasha Beckley Challenges Sierra Leonean Rappers to Prove Their Skills

On July 18, 2024, Sierra Leonean rapper Natasha Beckley, also known as SWADU, urged fellow hip-hop artists to demonstrate their lyrical prowess rather than focus on creating lists of top rappers.

In a recent Facebook video following a rap freestyle, Beckley criticized the trend of ranking rappers and instead called for a more genuine test of skill. She proposed that music producers should release open beats and give rappers just 24 hours to record and release a song, emphasizing that the competition should be based on lyrical ability rather than experience.

Beckley also voiced her belief that she surpasses many local rappers in skill, suggesting that her achievements are often overlooked due to her gender. She stressed the importance of a fair and challenging platform for all artists to showcase their talent.
