Nicki Minaj Halts Release of Kanye West Collaboration, Postponing Album Launch
Title: "Nicki Minaj Halts Release of Kanye West Collaboration, Postponing Album Launch"
Nicki Minaj has caused a delay in the release of Kanye West's new album, Vultures, by blocking the release of their collaborative song, New Body. Originally slated for Friday, West's album, featuring Ty Dolla $ign, faced a setback as Minaj expressed her reluctance to release a track that dates back to 2018.
In a social media message to Minaj, West requested clearance for New Body on the new album. However, Minaj, in an Instagram livestream, firmly stated, "That train has left the station." She questioned the idea of releasing a song that has been in existence for three years, considering her recent album release.
New Body, originally intended for West's scrapped album Yandhi in 2018, was later re-recorded for Jesus Is King in 2019. Despite multiple versions and attempts, including a supposed inclusion in 2021's Donda, the song remains unreleased. Minaj has referred to it as "the hit that got away."
West's recent announcement of the Yzy Pod, described as the "foldable future of footwear," replaces the delayed album. Priced at $200 or £159, it marks West's first product since parting ways with Adidas. The decision follows Adidas severing ties with West due to controversial statements and antisemitic remarks.
Gosha Rubchinskiy, a Russian designer and recent head of design at Yeezy, left Comme des Garçons to operate independently while leading Yeezy. His tenure at Comme des Garçons faced controversy in 2018 when accused of pressuring a 16-year-old for explicit photographs, which he denied.
Despite the delays, Vultures is anticipated to feature collaborations with Chris Brown, Kodak Black, Young Thug, and producer Timbaland. Meanwhile, Minaj's recently released album, Pink Friday 2, is poised to chart in the UK Top 3, showcasing her prowess and wit according to a four-star Guardian review.
