'We cannot afford to lose our humanity': Madonna speaks on stage in London about Israel-Hamas war

Madonna addressed the Israel-Hamas war in a lengthy statement during her concert at London's O2 Arena.

On the third day of her Celebration Tour, she lamented the deaths of children in the conflict, alleged hate crimes related to this, and expanded on comments made about the war in her previous concerts. .

She called the war "heartbreaking." No one wants to see what happens. I feel like throwing up when I turn on social media. We see children being kidnapped and dragged off bikes. Babies are decapitated and peaceful children are shot. What on earth is going on in the world? How can people be so cruel to each other? The situation is only going to get worse. it scares me. ”

She wanted to paraphrase the words of American author James Baldwin, who “has been a great inspiration to me throughout her life.” The children of the world belong to all of us, each and every one of them. I don`t care where they`re from, what their headdress is, what the colour of their skin is, what their religion is – the children belong to us. And we are responsible for them.”

She referred to the killing this week of six-year-old Wadea Al-Fayoume in Chicago – 71-year-old landlord Joseph Czuba has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing the boy. His mother was also allegedly attacked. The local sheriff`s office said: “Detectives were able to determine that both victims in this brutal attack were targeted by the suspect due to them being Muslim and the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict involving Hamas and the Israelis.”

Madonna called the killing “a hate crime, because he was Muslim. We must remember that we are humans here and we cannot lose our humanity. Our hearts can break, but our hearts don't. No one can break our spirit. And you might look at what's going on in the world and ask yourself, ``What on earth?'' What can I do? I'm just one person, I'm powerless. No, it's not. Each of you has the power and ability to shine a light on the world. We are all candles. We can bring light to the world. If we light enough lights and light enough candles, our collective consciousness of generosity and unity will change. No politicians, no laws, no sanctions, no countries to give or take away. We can change this damn world with our consciousness.

Introducing the next song, she said, ``It's really hard to sing when you're crying. And when you think about what's happening to a lot of these little kids, I... It just makes me want to cry.''

Madonna was a supporter of Kabbalah, a mystical branch of Judaism. She adopted the Hebrew name "Esther" and participated in Jewish religious acts, including giving her son Rocco a bar mitzvah. However, she said in a 2015 interview: I mean, some people might say, "You're doing a lot of things that Jews are doing," but I'd say you're doing a lot of things that people have done before.
