World Food Day: Agriculture Minister Donates Combined Harvester to Agribusinesses
The Minister of Agriculture & Food Security, Henry Musa Kpaka, concluded this year’s World Food Day celebrations in Kailahun by donating a combined rice harvester to Med-Tulai Agribusiness and another to Pujehun-based Tivamiah Agribusiness. Other farming machinery was also distributed to support the Feed Salone program.
Dr. Kpaka highlighted the significant role these agribusinesses play in advancing President Bio's Feed Salone initiative. The harvester for Med-Tulai will aid in the harvest of their extensive rice farm in Makeni, benefiting both the business and its out-growers.
Additionally, power tillers were allocated to 13 districts across the country, and rice milling machines were given to Kailahun and Bonthe districts to enhance local agricultural production.
Kadija Bangura, CEO of Med-Tulai, expressed gratitude for the timely donation, emphasizing its importance in reducing post-harvest losses and cutting down costs for the business. She also committed to supporting local farmers in their harvests.
